Kira is making a difference IN kleberg county.

ABOUT KIRA

Kira Talip Sanchez, current Kleberg County Attorney, was born and raised in Kingsville, Texas. Her career has been driven by the desire to build up the community she was raised in, and create a better environment for the families who reside in it. With over 17 years of serving her community, Kira Talip Sanchez is thankful for the roles that she has been afforded. She strives to always act in the favor of a stronger tomorrow for Kleberg County, a place she calls home with her husband, Andy Sanchez, and their beautiful blended family.

Kira graduated from HM King High School in 1996, and continued her education at the University of Texas Austin where she earned her degree in English and a minor in Anthropology. Her journey for knowledge and a life of service to her community led to receiving a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, from the formerly known Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 2001.

Her parents immigrated from Paras, Nuevo Léon, Mexico, and chose to start their family in Kingsville. She found herself back in her home town by way of being the Assistant County Attorney for one year, before taking a hiatus to teach local middle school students. By 2012, she was led back to law as Assistant County Attorney for two years before being appointed Kleberg County Attorney in 2014.

A pivotal moment in her career was becoming the Director of the Kleberg County Attorney’s Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force in 2016. The task force proactively targets criminals engaged in trafficking of narcotics, weapons, persons, and currency.  Throughout her tenure in this role, Talip-Sanchez supported the youth and families in Kleberg County through her annual Egg-stravaganza event, participation in the local “Shop with a Cop” program, and various other programs like back-to-school bashes, community health fairs, and wellness programs.

As Kleberg County Attorney, she developed and supported the facilitation of the Building Better Families, which educates families with domestic violence charges that aim for healthier relationships. The course educates on domestic violence, the cycle of abuse, and its effects on children. As the Kleberg County Attorney, her office handles a wide array of cases, from criminal misdemeanors, juvenile cases, CPS, victim’s assistance, protective orders, and much more. She also has community partnerships with the Purple Door, City of Kingsville’s Park & Recreation Department, Elks Club, Kingsville Boxing Club, Douglas Youth Center, Driscoll Health Plan, and the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation which all allow her to further her transformational impact and contribution to Kleberg County families, and hopefully for generations to come.

Kira WILL STAND TALL NO MATTER WHAT.
